About
The Social Media Workshops are produced by Social Media Club, the largest membership organization for Social Media professionals and champions. Our international network of local groups is dedicated to sharing lessons learned, supporting industry standards, discussing ethical standards and promoting media literacy.
We have been sharing our knowledge since the before we even founded the organization when we produced Web 2point1 as an alternative unconference to the Web 2.0 Summit and through our first workshop called “From Social Media to Corporate Media” featuring Robert Scoble and BlogHer co-founder Lisa Stone.
Throughout the remainder of 2008 and into 2009, we will be hosting a wide variety of workshops, webinars and conferences that will bring our members together with community leaders, entrepreneurs, and executives. If you are interested in bringing a Social Media Workshop to your town, please complete our contact us form and let us know what you have in mind.
How Workshops Are Organized
Social Media Workshops are co-produced with local Social Media experts and international members from Social Media Club. Instead of the typical conference program where organizers invite experts who travel at their own expense to share their knowledge for freee, Social Media Club Workshops cover the travel expenses of member experts and shares 10% of the event profits with each workshop leader.
People deserve to get paid for what they know, who they know and their ability to help other organizations. It is our fundamental belief in the knowledge economy.
Typically, a local leader like Roxanne Darling, begins talking with the Social Media Club’s leadership about producing a workshop. Togetther, we locate the appropriate venue, event partners and workshop leaders. We then create an educational program around the unique strengths of the workshop leaders, deploy some pages online and start promoting the event.
